The Summer Food Nutritional Program funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the State of Nevada Department of Education provides meals for children and adults who are low-income and unable to sustain themselves.

The Tutoring Program gives qualified students the opportunity to excel in areas they find challenging and to provide them with the confidence to overcome difficulties. Tutoring is available in many subject areas in the form of individual and group sessions

Family Support Services assists students and their families to overcome challenges in life by providing “wrap-around” (supportive) services. This program offers family assessments, as well as individual and family counseling. Program staff members model effective parenting practices, advocate for children's health and educational needs, connect families with community resources and establish ongoing relationships with all of the necessary service providers.

Mentors and Volunteers Program recruits, trains, and assigns volunteers to UNLV GEAR UP schools to support the social enrichment and academic achievement of students.

The Center for Academic Enrichment and Outreach (The Center) leverages federal, state, local government and community resources to assist all students but particularly low-income, first-generation students. The Center also conducts research that assists with increasing the body of knowledge for working with low-income, first-generation and disadvantaged populations.

Thanks to the support of our congressional delegation, the Clark County School District, our local government officials, business and community service partners, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, The Center’s GEAR UP and TRIO programs are able to grow and continue to provide top-notch services to more than 26,000 individuals each year. Many of The Center’s participants go on to become doctors, lawyers, politicians, educators, and professionals in many other fields. We owe our success and the successes of our students to our partnerships!
