mission of the Early Studies Program at UNLV is to give
bright, highly motivated, high school juniors and seniors
the opportunity to earn university credit while still in
high school. The primary goal of the program is to allow
students to get a head start on their university core requirements
and/or courses of particular interest to them.

grade point average required of UNLV at the time of admission.

a head start on your college career by earning university
credit.

chance to become a part of a diverse university, made
up of approximately 25,000 students, offering more than
150 undergraduate, master and doctoral degree programs.

As an
Early Studies Student, you will be eligible to enroll in
most 100 level courses. There are over 200 courses that
you are eligible to take! Please
refer to the course listing.
| Which
Courses Count for Dual Credit? |
In
some cases, students can earn dual credit (high school
and university
credit) with the approval of the student's high school
counselor. Generally, if a course is not offered by the
student's high school, dual credit may be earned. There
are approximately 75 courses that Early Studies Students
may take to earn dual credit. Please
refer to the course listing.
- Contact
your high school counselor or The Center to complete
the Early Studies Program Contract.
- Obtain
two copies of your high school transcripts.
- Call
895-4777 to sign up for an Early Studies Program appointment
and become a UNLV student today!

Q.
Do I have to take any tests?
A.
The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) or ACT (American College
Test) is only required for students wishing to take English
or math courses. The scores are used to place students
in the appropriate course. The Student Development Center
at UNLV offers the ACT residual test for $40. Call 895-3177
for more information.
Q.
Are evening classes available?
A.
Yes! There are a variety of evening courses available
in the summer, spring and fall semesters. Exact times
can be found in the course schedule each semester.
Q.
Is tutoring available?
A.
Yes! The Center offers tutoring for a variety of subjects.
Tutoring is available for students who are enrolled in
courses at UNLV. Call 895-4782 for more information.
Q.
Is there someone I can talk to about questions or concerns
I may have regarding my classes or UNLV in general?
A.
Yes. You are strongly encouraged to meet with the Representative
of the Early Studies Program at least once during the
semester or summer session in which you are attending.
During these meetings, you will have the opportunity
to discuss course progress, future goals or any other
questions or concerns you may have. It is to your advantage
to use all of the resources available to you, including
academic advising.
