The Center seeks to improve the quality of education for all students. We empower our participants by providing services that help them succeed in education and improve their overall quality of living. Primary services offered by the Center include assistance with admissions and financial aid applications, advising and counseling, career planning, and tutoring assistance. Additional services include basic instruction of core curriculum, college preparatory & personal development workshops, and personal and family counseling to address concerns outside of the classroom that affect academics.
We try our best to attend to the needs of all of our participants. If we encounter needs that are out of our spectrum of services we gladly provide referrals to other campus and community services.
Get a good start in College
Everyone wants to do well in college. But at first, you may feel anxious, uncertain, or overwhelmed. You may have many questions.
Important things to keep in mind are:
1. Choosing your school Just as you would not to jump right into making a large purchase, you want to think about college in the same vein. You want to do some research to choose the school that best fits your needs.
Things to consider when choosing a school are:
a. Does the school have the career track that I'm interested in?
b. How large is the school, and how comfortable will I be in that environment?
c. How much does the school cost and how much will I be able to afford before and after financial aid programs?
d. What is the average class size? Will I be comfortable in that environment?
Remember, all these factors will ensure your success once you begin your academic journey. Be waery of schools where you are pressured into signing into financial obligations as a step into entry to the college. There are schools who run as businesses- this is not a bad thing, though, you want to make the decision to attend that school based on all information presented, not just because you signed documents that set up your financial aid package at the onset.
